helly McKay is Co-Founder and Cannabis Educator at Kannabis Works Dispensary in Santa Ana. She is a dedicated and driven cannabis entrepreneur with over 7 years of combined cannabis experience, which ranges from Business Development, Investor, Product Specialist, Patient Support and Cannabis Coach utilizing product-knowledge guidance. She is deeply invested in the medicinal and research side of cannabis with a real passion for the benefits of cannabis. Shelly is a Certified Cannabis Specialist and proud member of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians and Americans for Safe Access, and Board Member of Los Angeles NORML and OC NORML. She’s taught online and in-person courses at venues including Green Flower Media, Cal State Long Beach, Budtender Fight Club and the MaxLove Project, an organization dedicated to helping childhood cancer survivors.

 

Under Prop 215, she worked as a patient coach by helping clients understand the benefits of cannabinoids. Under Prop 64, Shelly Co-Founded Kannabis Works Dispensary in Santa Ana, CA, where she created an educational program for onboarding staff about the benefits of cannabis as medicine. In March of 2020, Under SB 34, The Dennis Peron & Brownie Mary Act, Shelly started a compassionate program at Kannabis Works for veterans to access cannabis free of charge.  Under this program, through Kannabis Works, Shelly continues to donate cannabis to more than 200 veterans regularly and a growing list of patients in need. In 2021, she accepted the role as Director of Compassion with Los Angeles NORML where she actively engages with cannabis companies to further grow the compassionate program and raise awareness about the need for safe access and affordable medicine.
